SUNSET

Overall great day out on the sea with friends but soured due to poor communication and unprofessional behaviour from the boat captain. I have charted a number of yachts/boats but have never had an experience this poor with someone who should be there to make your day enjoyable. Communication with Louisa the owner in the lead up was okay - although she seemed to alternate between messaging on the Clickandboat platform and sms in both English and French which was a bit frustrating. We didn't have a great experience with Marcus the boat captain. Our interaction got off to a bad start when I texted Marcus the night before our journey to confirm some details such as what equipment was available on the boat - to which he didn't reply and I followed up the morning of. He then followed up with rude messages including saying "I am not your lackey or Hostess, I am only the Skipper." and "I have other things to do then answer each question each five minutes". The staff at the Port Canto harbour, when we were at the office paying the harbourmaster fee, also noted that he was a difficult personality to work with from their point of view which I thought said a lot if they were disclosing that to us. During our time with Marcus he seemed superficially nice but always seemed irritated or annoyed when we asked him for simple favours. He also seemed condescending at times. On the contrast our group have been entirely polite and respectful towards him, while always tiptoeing around trying to avoid setting him off. I live in Australia and am used to a bit of friendly banter but in this professional setting and the negative way our relationship started - I didn't appreciate a lot of "jokes" he was making which were often in bad taste. This included making fun of my friend's name and refusing to pronounce it properly or constantly calling another friend "Captain Pee Pee" just because he showed him how to use the toilet. You could also tell he was very particular about hygiene which is absolutely fine, but he was very militant about it and wouldn't let us go into the toilet if we were wet which I felt was a bit ridiculous being on a boat at sea. He also seemed to need constant praise and encouragement about what a "good skipper" he was - which we all did vocally to keep him happy but we were all cringing inside. We also weren't allowed to use any of the 4 bedrooms even just to change - which is the first time I've come across such rules - if you rent a boat for a day I feel like you should have access to all the facilities. I would also clarify the itinerary before you set off with him as the described itinerary showed 3 locations but we only did 2. Overall a nice day out but all of us couldn't wait to get off the boat and far away from him

RUN AWAY!!!! SCAM We had signed a quote for a day on Marcus's catamaran for €1,500 all-inclusive. The plan was to pay €550 directly to Marcus (the skipper). Before we could even board the boat, he yelled at us, wanting only to speak to the person who had booked. He demanded €700 in cash, otherwise we would cancel the day on the boat and we wouldn't be refunded the €930 we had already paid to Click&Boat. Of course, we wanted to pay by credit card, but he told us that in that case, it would be an additional 5%. We asked for an invoice, but we never saw one. Once on board, Marcus started yelling at us and insulting us, "she's already starting to get on my nerves." Totally inappropriate behavior. This day was hell, the boat was completely unmaintained. A total scam! Avoid...

We were a group of 7 people who went on a fantastic boat trip with Captain Marcus. The whole experience was smooth, relaxed, and very enjoyable. Marcus was welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly loved what he was doing.
