Starting location:: Schmöckwitz Marina, Berlin, Germany
Köpernick Old Town: We cruise along the old town of Köpenick, one of the oldest inhabited areas of Berlin. From the water, you can see Köpenick Palace and the historic buildings surrounding Luisenhain Park. The area is known for its long history and is considered the origin of Köpenick. From the boat, the old town reveals its quieter, lesser-known side. Fun fact: Köpenick was first mentioned in the 12th century and was an independent town for a long time before it became part of Berlin.
Müggelsee: The tour continues past Lake Müggelsee, Berlin's largest lake. Here, the landscape opens up considerably, giving you a real sense of the vastness of southeast Berlin. Depending on the weather, Lake Müggelsee is either calm or has gentle waves – typical of open water. Fun fact: Lake Müggelsee has an area of approximately 7.4 km².
New Venice: In the final part of the tour, we'll travel through New Venice. The area is characterized by numerous narrow, branching waterways and small bridges. It gets its name from the canal's resemblance to Venice. Here, life is noticeably quieter and more relaxed than on the large lakes. Fun fact: New Venice was artificially created in the early 20th century by digging waterways to make the area habitable.
