Hello, The RM 1200 is the ideal sailboat for fast cruising in Brittany, or for sailing to the Isles of Scilly or the Channel Islands. The twin keels allow the boat to be beached in tidal harbors. This opens up numerous anchorages, often inaccessible to many other sailboats. The RM 1200 is a very good performer under sail, making fast crossings possible. Major refit in 2023: painting of the topsides, interior finishing (varnishing), new mainsail, new main anchor line. The saildrive was replaced in 2022. Furnishing genoas and staysails make sail changes easy, and the mainsail is equipped with three reefing points, lazy jacks, and a lazy bag. A symmetrical spinnaker and a gennaker complete the package. The panoramic view from inside is a pleasure for everyone. The rigid sprayhood protects the front of the cockpit, offering a superior alternative to a soft sprayhood. Smaller children can find a safe place to nap, and in heavy weather, it protects the watch crew from spray. Solar panels and a hydro turbine provide excellent electrical autonomy at sea. The reverse osmosis system allows for long passages without fear of running out of fresh water. The boat is equipped with a tender with a recent (2023) gasoline engine. It has all the necessary safety equipment for offshore sailing with eight people: distress beacon, lifelines, inflatable life jackets, etc. The NKM autopilot greatly simplifies navigation, as does the chartplotter (MaxSea), which displays AIS information (the boat is equipped with a transceiver). Number of people allowed: 10 for coastal cruising, 8 for offshore cruising.
