Why should you charter a yacht in The Bahamas with a skipper?

You have the possibility of hiring a boat in The Bahamas with or without a skipper. With a bareboat rental, you can venture to any part of the archipelago at your own pace and moor your vessel wherever you like. Make sure that you have a valid boating license before you proceed to book.

If you’re opting for a hands-free holiday, you can also hire a captain onboard. The experienced sailor will be able to show you all of the best spots in the archipelago, many of which remain off the beaten track. For whatever option you decide, one thing is for sure - your yacht hire in The Bahamas will be one to remember!

What do we offer in The Bahamas?

Most vessels in The Bahamas can welcome up to 10 passengers onboard - perfect for travelling with families and friends. With Océans Evasion, you can also have a highly-trained crew with your boat hire, who will be here to take care of everything - including cleaning and dining. A crew can be available with a wide range of boats, including luxury yacht charters and catamarans. They are employed by the boat owner and the fee will be included in the total price of your rental.

When should I hire a boat in The Bahamas?

As The Bahamas is situated close to the Tropic of Cancer, the peak season is during the winter months from December to February. During this period, temperatures are warm and there is little precipitation. However, these are also the busiest months of the year to visit the archipelago and some of the most expensive. If you wish to escape the crowds, while still being able to soak up the sun, we highly recommend exploring the 700+ islands from March to April.

What to do in The Bahamas?

The Bahamas is famous for having some of the most famous beaches in the world and there’s no better way to explore them than by renting a boat! You may feel a bit overwhelmed by all there is to see here, but fear not because we have compiled a list of all of our favourite destinations to visit:

  • For movie buffs, we recommend visiting some of the famous sights which appeared in the James Bond films such as John Watling’s Distillery, Ocean Club and the iconic Thunderball Grotto.
  • Wander through the streets of Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas, and one of only three Caribbean cities to be recognized as a city of Crafts and Folk Art by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
  • Take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of Staniel Cay with the… swimming pigs! The small cay of Exuma is known for its colony of feral pigs which live there.
  • Soak up the sun on the pink sand beaches of Harbour Island, some of the finest in the country. The island is also full of colourful English colonial-style architecture and flower-lined streets.
  • Sail to the Abaco Islands in the northern Bahamas. We recommend mooring your boat in Marsh Harbour, the main marina in this region of country and perfect for venturing off into the coral reef areas. This is also one of the best spots to snorkel, thanks to the wide array of flora and fauna found beneath the surface.
