Description of Alexandre's sailboat
Sailboat - 23m — Alcor - Yacht Classique
A beautiful classic racing-cruising yacht for sailing in style, speed, and comfort from La Trinité or any other port on the Atlantic coast, whether cruising or participating in the major classic yacht rallies of the season: Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan at Ascension, Rendez-vous de la Belle Plaisance in Bénodet at the end of June, Voiles de Légende in La Baule at the end of July, Noirmoutier Classic at the beginning of August... Alcor is very comfortable: the four beautiful guest cabins and the crew quarters can accommodate 10 people overnight, and the large aft bathroom even has a proper bathtub. The saloon, with its expansive windows, and the deck saloon, protected by a bimini top, can seat 16 people around the two large tables. The powerful original Rolls-Royce engine ensures a cruising speed of 9 knots even if the wind dies down. But it's also a true racing yacht (winner, for example, of the Giraglia in 1970): the 28m mainmast and 250m² of sail area provide an unparalleled sailing experience, especially at the helm, which is extraordinarily smooth and precise. The yacht will be available for charter for a maximum of 8 days during the 2026 season. It will also be available for shared sailing, for approximately €90 per day per person (depending on the number of people), for a maximum of 8 people, up to a limit of 30 people per day during the 2025 season. See you soon on board, Alexandre Its history: Alcor II was designed by the Englishman Jack Laurent-Giles and built in Italy by the Sangermani shipyard for a Spanish owner. Jack Laurent-Giles is known for numerous innovations, particularly for his advancements in optimizing sailing and power performance. The Sangermani shipyard, founded at the end of the 19th century, has the unusual distinction of having built only pleasure yachts (no workboats), and only as one-offs (no series production). Alcor is the largest of the fifteen yachts produced by this architect-shipyard partnership. On Alcor, the pursuit of performance is evident in the very fine hull, the 28-meter mainmast, the 250 square meters of sail area, the 17-ton ballast, the significant 3.2-meter draft, and the impressive coffee grinder-shaped aft deck: these are all characteristics of a racing yacht. And the quest for comfort is reflected in the very welcoming deck saloon, the five cabins each equipped with its own sink, the three heads, one of which has a proper bathtub, and finally, the very powerful Rolls-Royce engine (320 hp). Alcor has undergone virtually no modifications since its construction: the interior fittings are entirely intact, and the engine and windlass, both original, are still in working order. A pristine testament to the talents of the architect and the shipyard, Alcor offers a glimpse into the history of yachting from 60 years ago. It is a listed historical monument and is part of the fleet of the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle.
